Chapter 8 - The Breach
Someone was trying to kick down the medical bay doors.
Dmitri turned on a tactical flashlight attached to his shoulder.
The beam of light cut through the dark room.
"Grab his legs!" Dmitri ordered Maria.
Maria picked up Alexei's heavy legs while Dmitri took his shoulders.
They dragged the unconscious billionaire through a secondary door in the back of the clinic.
Sophie ran close beside her mother, clutching her mother's apron.
They entered a narrow concrete corridor that led to the ultimate safe room.
The sound of shattering glass and screaming guards echoed down the stairs.
They reached the massive titanium door of the panic room.
Dmitri punched a code into the battery-operated keypad.
The heavy door slid open with a hydraulic hiss.
They dragged Alexei inside and laid him on the cold steel floor.
Dmitri slammed his hand on the emergency locking button.
The door began to slide shut, but then it stopped halfway.
A red error light blinked on the control panel.
"The locking mechanism is jammed!" Dmitri panicked, pushing the door with his bare hands.
