Chapter 5 - The Medical Bay
Maria watched the doctor tap the side of the deadly syringe.
She had to do something right now.
If Alexei died, the entire estate would be slaughtered by the rival Romano family.
She gently pushed the vent cover, realizing it was completely unscrewed.
It silently gave way, allowing Maria to drop down behind a row of tall medical cabinets.
She left Sophie safely hidden up in the tunnel.
Doctor Evans leaned over the operating table to inject the poison into Alexei's intravenous line.
Maria grabbed a heavy silver surgical tray from the counter.
She lunged forward and swung the metal tray as hard as she could.
It crashed against the side of the doctor's head.
The man stumbled backward, dropping the syringe onto the pristine white tile floor.
The glass shattered, spilling the yellow liquid everywhere.
Doctor Evans touched his bleeding head and turned to face her.
A cruel smile stretched across his face.
He reached into his white medical coat and pulled out a suppressed handgun.
"You should have stayed in the vault, cleaning lady."

Suddenly, a tiny pink plastic toy bounced off the doctor's forehead.
