Chapter 2 - The Wrong Name
Mark stared at the plastic hospital band in absolute, paralyzing disbelief.
The name printed in stark black ink clearly read Madison Vale.
Why would his mistress's name be on a bloody maternity bracelet inside his own house?
His mind raced, trying to piece together the chaotic events of the past four days.
He pulled out his phone and dialed Madison's number again, his hands shaking violently.
This time, she answered on the very first ring.
Her voice sounded breathless and strange, not at all like the woman he had cut cake with.
Mark demanded to know what was going on and why her name was on a hospital bracelet in his hallway.
Madison went completely silent on the other end of the line.
When she finally spoke, her tone was ice-cold and utterly terrifying.
She told him he was asking all the wrong questions.
Before he could press her further, she hung up the phone abruptly.
Mark threw his device against the wall, watching it shatter into jagged pieces across the floor.
Meanwhile, fifty miles away, Emily sat in a plush leather chair overlooking a highly secure private medical facility.
She winced as the stitches from her C-section pulled tight against her aching abdomen.
Through the heavy glass window, she watched three tiny incubators keeping her babies alive.
Grace, Lily, and Hope were fighting for their lives, but they were finally safe.
She gently traced her fingers over the forged medical file sitting on her lap.
A tall, shadow-draped man walked into the room and handed her a cup of hot tea.
He asked her if she was ready for the next phase of the plan.
Emily nodded slowly, her eyes burning with a fierce, unapologetic motherly rage.
She was going to take absolutely everything from the man who had left her to die.
Back at the house, a loud, authoritative knock echoed from Mark's front door.
He opened it to find two uniformed police officers standing on his porch.
May you like
They asked him to step outside and place his hands behind his back.
Mark was officially under arrest for the suspected murder of his missing wife.
