Chapter 3 - The Frozen Accounts
Mrs. Chen refused to open the front door for my hostile parents and their menacing lawyer.
She spoke to them through the locked screen, demanding that they leave her property immediately.
My father angrily yelled that I was a pathological liar who was trying to ruin his favorite daughter's pristine reputation.
The lawyer stepped forward and slid a thick white envelope through the narrow mail slot.
He loudly announced that I had been officially served with a civil lawsuit for severe defamation of character.
My parents promised to drain every single cent I owned in legal fees unless I dropped the criminal charges against Sarah.
They finally walked away, leaving me trembling in the hallway with the heavy envelope in my good hand.
I opened the legal documents and realized they had already filed an emergency injunction against me.
I quickly pulled out my smartphone and logged into my primary banking application to check my funds.
A bright red error message flashed across the screen, stating that my accounts were completely locked.
My parents had used a forged power of attorney document to freeze my entire life savings overnight.
I had absolutely no money to hire a defense attorney, pay for my medical bills, or even buy food.
Mrs. Chen placed a comforting hand on my shoulder and told me not to panic just yet.
She revealed that she had anticipated their dirty tactics and had already called a highly specialized contact.
I asked her who she could possibly know that could fight against my family's massive wealth and corrupt influence.
Mrs. Chen smiled softly and explained that her son was a senior investigator for the state's financial crimes division.
She dialed his number on her secure landline and handed the receiver directly to me.
I explained the forged power of attorney and the sudden freezing of my bank accounts.

Her son listened carefully and promised to look into my parents' financial history immediately.
Ten minutes later, he called back with information that completely changed the reality of my entire existence.
