Chapter 9 - The Trap Closes

Richard smiled triumphantly, fully believing he had orchestrated the greatest theft in corporate history.
“You always were a hard worker, Eleanor, but you were never quite smart enough to protect your crown,” he mocked.
Ethan looked at me with absolute despair, believing his terrible wife and monstrous father had truly ruined us.
I finished typing on my cell phone and slowly placed it back into my coat pocket.
I looked up at Richard, and the terrified mother facade completely vanished from my face.
A cold, ruthless smile spread across my lips, matching the predatory energy of the criminal boss.
“You always were arrogant, Richard, assuming women were too emotional to read the fine print,” I said evenly.
Richard frowned, his triumphant smile faltering slightly as he sensed my sudden shift in confidence.
“What are you babbling about?” he demanded, clutching his forged proxy documents tightly.
“I told you yesterday that I wrote Ethan completely out of my will, but I did much more than that,” I explained.
“I transferred the absolute entirety of my corporate empire, every restaurant and hotel, into an irrevocable blind trust.”
Richard’s face drained of color as the horrific reality of his massive mistake began to set in.
“The proxy forms Claire forged are completely and utterly worthless, because Ethan does not own a single share to sign away,” I stated proudly.
“You are bluffing!” Richard screamed, aggressively pulling a heavy pistol from his waistband.
My security team instantly raised their tactical rifles, aiming dozens of red laser sights directly at Richard’s chest.
“I am not bluffing, and I did not just transfer the company,” I continued with deadly calm.
I pointed to my cell phone resting in my pocket.
“I also just used my banking access to transfer the entirety of the Obsidian Syndicate’s illegal funds directly to the FBI.”
Richard’s burner phone suddenly began buzzing violently in his pocket with frantic, panicked alerts from his criminal accountants.
He realized in that exact moment that he was completely bankrupt, utterly defeated, and entirely out of options.
He raised his weapon toward me in a desperate, final act of pure malice.

But before he could even place his finger on the trigger, the massive warehouse doors exploded inward.
“Federal agents, drop the weapon and get on the ground immediately!” a booming voice echoed through the mill.
