Chapter 4 - The Corrupt Judge

I stared at the heavily stamped marriage certificate, completely paralyzed by the sheer, terrifying magnitude of the conspiracy.
Dominic had not just blindly stumbled into an affair with a random pregnant woman.
He had intentionally targeted the wife of Judge Harrison Vance, the most notoriously corrupt family court judge in the entire state.
"They are all working completely together to legally extort your hidden trust fund," my grandfather deduced, his voice dangerously low.
"Judge Vance will conveniently rule entirely in Dominic's favor, awarding him full custody and absolute control of your financial assets."
I felt a cold sweat break out across my forehead as the elaborate, terrifying trap fully closed around me.
If we exposed the corrupt judge without absolute, undeniable proof, he would simply retaliate by permanently taking my children away.
"We have to play along with their sick game until we can gather enough hard evidence to destroy them all simultaneously," I decided firmly.
My grandfather nodded in grim agreement, immediately deploying his elite private investigators to shadow the judge.
Two agonizing hours later, Doctor Evans happily emerged from the surgical theater with a bright, comforting smile.
He announced that Liam's delicate heart surgery was a complete success and he was stabilizing beautifully.
I finally allowed myself to rest, sitting quietly between my two sleeping miracles while plotting my imminent, ruthless revenge.
The next morning, I received a formal, highly intimidating summons to attend an emergency custody hearing at the downtown courthouse.
I arrived wearing a sharp, tailored black suit, hiding my intense physical pain behind a mask of absolute, icy confidence.
Dominic sat smugly at the plaintiff's table, wearing a completely fake, pathetic expression of a grieving, worried father.
Judge Vance slammed his heavy wooden gavel, glaring at me with barely concealed, venomous contempt.
"Mrs. Sterling, your husband claims you are severely mentally unstable and unfit to care for these fragile infants," the judge stated coldly.
My ruthless lawyer, Marcus, instantly objected, presenting extensive medical records proving my absolute sanity and capability.
Judge Vance completely ignored the factual evidence, arbitrarily dismissing the motion with a negligent wave of his hand.
"I am temporarily awarding full physical custody of the twins to the father, effective the moment they leave the hospital," the judge ruled.
Dominic smirked victoriously, believing he had just successfully stolen my entire life.
The court adjourned, and I walked calmly to the restroom to splash freezing water onto my burning face.
As I stared at my pale reflection in the mirror, the heavy restroom door suddenly locked shut behind me.
Natalie stepped out of the shadows of the final bathroom stall, no longer wearing her arrogant, mocking smile.
She looked absolutely terrified, frantically checking under the bathroom stalls to ensure we were completely alone.

"The babies Dominic thinks I am pregnant with are absolutely not his," Natalie whispered, her hands shaking violently.
"They belong to the judge, and this entire divorce is a massive trap to launder cartel money through your family trust."
