Chapter 2 - The Fertility Clinic Secret

The sight of the deadly weapon completely paralyzed every single muscle in my exhausted body.

"Nobody makes another sound," the lawyer ordered, his voice as cold and sharp as a steel blade.

My newborn son let out a soft whimper, and I desperately pressed his tiny face against my chest to muffle the sound.

Julian stared at the gun, then looked back at his mother with a mixture of profound horror and deep betrayal.

"You knew I could never have children, and you let me believe Vivian cheated on me?" Julian yelled, his voice echoing off the tiled walls.

Eleanor did not flinch, maintaining her terrifying composure even with a loaded gun drawn in the room.

"I did what was necessary to protect the legacy of the Vance corporation," she replied coldly.

I desperately tried to process the impossible situation unfolding right in front of me.

If Julian was entirely sterile, then who was the biological father of the child resting in my arms?

My mind raced back to the prestigious fertility clinic we had visited a year ago when we were struggling to conceive.

Eleanor had personally recommended the elite facility, claiming they employed the best specialists in the country.

"You swapped the donor samples at the clinic," I gasped, the sickening realization hitting me with the force of a freight train.

Eleanor finally looked at me, her eyes filled with absolute, unadulterated disgust.

"Julian's grandfather stipulated in his will that the company shares would transfer to a rival family if Julian did not produce a legitimate heir," Eleanor explained smoothly.

She admitted that she had bribed the clinic directors to use a highly classified, anonymous donor to artificially inseminate me without my knowledge.

"I just needed you to act as an incubator for the perfect, genetically superior heir," she confessed without a single ounce of guilt.

Julian looked physically sick as he realized his entire marriage had been a carefully orchestrated business transaction managed by his mother.

"You ruined my life for a corporate technicality?" Julian asked, tears of genuine anger welling in his eyes.

"I secured our multi-billion dollar future, you ungrateful fool," Eleanor snapped back viciously.

The lawyer gestured toward me with the barrel of his silenced pistol.

"Hand over the baby right now, Vivian, and we will let you walk out of this hospital alive," the lawyer threatened.

I looked down at my innocent, beautiful son and knew I would rather die than surrender him to these monsters.

I slowly shifted my weight toward the edge of the hospital bed, pretending to comply with their terrifying demands.

My hand brushed against the emergency call button hidden beneath the thin mattress pad.

I pressed the button with all my remaining strength, triggering a silent alarm at the nurses' station.

"I am not giving you my son," I stated firmly, staring directly into Eleanor's soulless eyes.

May you like

The lawyer sighed heavily and stepped forward, fully intending to rip the baby straight from my protective arms.

Suddenly, the heavy glass window overlooking the hallway shattered into thousands of jagged pieces as a massive figure violently crashed through it.
