Chapter 8 - THE CONFESSION

Chaos erupted in the rail yard. Julian’s mercenaries, realizing they were being filmed and outmaneuvered, began to panic and scatter.

Julian, however, was blinded by rage. He pulled a silver revolver from his coat and chased Arthur into the maze of shipping containers.

"You ruined my life!" Julian screamed, firing wildly into the shadows. "That child is a mistake! Elena is nothing but trash! I own this state!"

"Keep talking, Julian," Arthur’s voice echoed from above.

Julian spun around. Arthur dropped from the top of a shipping container, landing heavily on Julian. The gun skittered across the gravel. Arthur grabbed Julian by the lapels of his expensive coat and slammed him against the steel wall.

"You tried to kill a mother and her child," Arthur roared, his fist pulling back.

"Do it!" Julian spat blood. "You're a nobody. A trucker. I have judges in my pocket. I'll be out of jail by morning!"

"Not this time," Arthur said. He didn't punch Julian. He simply pointed to the glowing red light of a high-definition camera mounted three feet away on the container wall.

"You just confessed to attempted murder and bribery, live on national television," Arthur smiled. "Every FBI field office in the country is watching you right now."

Julian’s face went entirely slack. The distant wail of sirens—dozens of them—began to echo through the valley. It wasn't the corrupt local cops. It was the federal authorities.
