Chapter 6 - The Island Fortress

Chloe completely ignored the terrifying warning and pushed the aircraft throttle to maximum speed.

She skillfully navigated through the turbulent storm clouds gathering over the ocean.

We finally spotted the faint, glowing lights of the isolated Caribbean island below us.

She landed the jet roughly in the darkness on the island's short, unpaved dirt runway.

The tires squealed loudly, but she managed to bring the heavy plane to a safe stop.

The island was completely surrounded by high concrete walls and patrolled by armed security guards.

We abandoned the plane and snuck silently into the dense, wet jungle brush.

We carefully avoided the sweeping searchlights to reach the back of the main compound.

We found a heavy steel door heavily concealed by thick vines.

It led directly into the subterranean basement of the massive, fortress-like mansion.

I used a heavy jagged rock to repeatedly smash the electronic keypad next to the door.

Sparks flew wildly into the air until the electronic lock finally short-circuited.

The heavy door groaned open, and we slipped quickly inside the dark, damp stone corridor.

We moved quietly along the wall, trying to find a staircase leading to the upper floors.

Suddenly, we heard heavy footsteps approaching rapidly from the other end of the hallway.

There was nowhere to hide in the narrow concrete tunnel.

The overhead fluorescent lights suddenly turned on, blinding us for a brief, terrifying moment.

Standing confidently in front of us was Daniel's mother, wearing a perfectly tailored suit.

She was flanked by four heavily armed men pointing military-grade rifles directly at our chests.

She smiled wickedly and welcomed us to the family estate.
