Chapter 4 - The Twin Deception

I fell to my knees in absolute shock, clutching the medical papers tightly to my chest.
Chloe leaned over my shoulder, reading the horrifying truth for herself.
Daniel had secretly stolen one of the twins and given her to Chloe to raise as his own separate family.
He had created two completely different lives, manipulating both of us flawlessly.
Chloe pulled out her phone, her hands shaking so badly she could barely dial the number.
She tried to call her nanny in a blind panic to check on Lily.
The phone rang endlessly before the nanny finally answered in hysterical tears.
The nanny confessed that Daniel had just picked up Lily from the park unexpectedly.
He had forced the little girl into his car and sped off without saying a single word.
We realized with sinking dread that Daniel had successfully kidnapped both of the girls.
“He’s going to take them away forever,” Chloe sobbed, dropping her phone onto the carpet.
I wiped the tears from my face and forced myself to focus on finding my daughters.
“No, he isn't,” I declared firmly, remembering a precaution I took last month.
I had sewn a hidden GPS tracking tag deeply into the lining of Emma's favorite backpack.
She never went anywhere without that backpack, and I prayed Daniel hadn't noticed it.
I pulled out my phone and quickly opened the tracking application.
A small green dot appeared on the digital map, moving rapidly toward the city limits.
The digital location showed he was heading straight to the private airfield outside of town.
I grabbed my car keys from the counter and signaled for Chloe to follow me.
As we sprinted to my car, Chloe’s phone buzzed loudly with an incoming text message.

She read it aloud, her voice cracking with pure despair.
The message was from Daniel, and it simply said, “You will never see them again.”
