Chapter 10 - The True Family

Before the deadly bullet could strike Emma, a bloody and severely battered Daniel tackled his mother from behind.

The violent impact caused the gunshot to miss wildly, shattering a massive glass window into a thousand pieces instead.

Local police officers, alerted earlier by the airfield authorities back home, stormed violently into the mansion.

They rushed up the stairs and quickly disarmed Victoria before she could recover from the tackle.

They placed her forcefully in heavy steel handcuffs, ignoring her arrogant demands for a lawyer.

Daniel was formally arrested for his many crimes, apologizing weakly to us as he was dragged away by paramedics.

Chloe and I held our beautiful daughters tightly, finally safe from the twisted family's evil grasp.

We promised each other right there that we would never let anyone hurt them again.

Two long years later, Chloe and I live happily together in a beautiful suburban house, raising the twins as sisters.

We sit peacefully on our wraparound porch, drinking coffee and watching Emma and Lily play happily in the warm afternoon sun.

The local mailman walks casually up the driveway and hands me a thick, unmarked brown envelope.

I open it carefully to find a single, terrifying color photograph hidden inside.

The picture shows Daniel sitting in a dirty prison cell, holding a photograph of a third identical little girl.

Written on the back of the photo in Daniel's messy handwriting are the words, "You forgot about the triplets."
