Chapter 4 - The Breach

Wood splinters and drywall dust rained down around us as the heavy doors collapsed.
Logan reacted instantly, grabbing my waist and pulling me hard to the floor.
Deafening gunfire erupted from the hallway, shredding the expensive leather furniture in the office.
"Stay down!" Logan roared over the noise, pulling a heavy black pistol from his waistband.
I covered my head with my arms, screaming as bullets shattered the large glass windows behind the desk.
Vincent, the elderly house manager, stepped casually through the ruined doorway.
He was holding a smoking submachine gun, his eyes cold and devoid of any human emotion.
"I am sorry, Mr. Parker," Vincent said smoothly.
"But the Rossi family sends their regards."
Vincent raised his weapon, aiming directly at Logan's chest.
Logan didn't hesitate for a second.
He fired three rapid shots, striking Vincent squarely in the chest.
The house manager crumpled to the floor, dead before he even hit the expensive Persian rug.
"We have to get Sophia," Logan gasped, his arm bleeding from a grazed bullet wound.
I scrambled to my feet, my nursing instincts finally overriding my paralyzing fear.
We ran out of the study, stepping over Vincent's lifeless body.
The mansion was completely chaotic, with security alarms blaring and guards shouting in the distance.
We rushed up the grand staircase, slipping dangerously on the polished marble steps.
I burst into Sophia's room, terrified of what I might find.
The bed was entirely empty, and the window was wide open.
The cold wind blew the silk curtains wildly into the room.
May you like
Logan let out a tortured scream, dropping to his knees near the empty bed.
Lying on the pillow was a single, monarch butterfly, pinned to the fabric with a silver dagger.
