Emily stepped out into the cool night air and walked toward a sleek black limousine waiting in the driveway.
The driver opened the door, revealing a sharply dressed man sitting in the shadows of the backseat.
"You played that perfectly, Emily," Marcus said with a warm smile.
Marcus was the legendary corporate lawyer who had supposedly retired five years ago.
Emily sank into the leather seat and let out a long, exhausted breath.
"They thought I was just a naive girl who married into money, but they never knew I was auditing them," she replied.
For half a decade, she had secretly gathered evidence of Daniel's massive fraud and Patricia's embezzlement.
Marcus handed her a thick tablet showing the real-time seizure of Daniel's offshore accounts.
"We have successfully frozen ninety percent of their assets," Marcus confirmed.
Emily frowned at the tablet screen because the math did not add up.
"Where is the remaining ten percent?" she asked with sudden concern.
Marcus tapped the screen to reveal a hidden shell company registered under a fake name.
"Daniel transferred fifty million dollars to a secure vault three days ago," Marcus explained.
Emily realized that Daniel had been preparing a dangerous escape plan just in case his crimes were discovered.
