Chapter 12 - The Puppet Master

Before Vance could process this sickening realization, the door to the hospital room swung open.
Grant Ellison walked in, flanked by two massive private security contractors.
Grant no longer wore the mask of a generous, concerned savior.
His face was set in a cold, triumphant sneer that chilled Vance to the bone.
Vance lunged at him, but the security guards immediately drew their tasers, forcing him to step back.
Grant casually adjusted his expensive cuffs, admiring the chaos he had orchestrated.
He freely admitted that he had bribed the chief embryologist at the fertility clinic three years ago.
Grant’s original plan was infinitely cruel.
He wanted Vance Callahan to unwittingly raise and finance the next heir to the Ellison empire.
He wanted to look at Vance at high-society galas, knowing the boy holding Vance's hand was secretly an Ellison.
But Vance had ruined the plan by abandoning Maddie before the twins were born.
Grant confessed that he had spent the last three years tracking Maddie down, waiting for the perfect moment to step in as the hero.
Maddie screamed in horror, throwing a glass of water at Grant’s face.
She called him a psychopath, realizing that her entire life had been a pawn in a billionaire’s twisted chess game.
Grant wiped the water from his cheek, his smile never wavering.
He calmly pulled out the legal document Vance had signed earlier that week.
He reminded Vance that the contract legally stripped him of all parental rights to both children.

Grant announced that his private jet was waiting on the tarmac to take Maddie and his son to a private island in the Caribbean.
He looked at Maya sleeping in the bed, coldly stating that Vance could keep the defective daughter.
