Chapter 3 - The Billionaire's Override

The entire medical staff froze in absolute horror at Dominic's monstrous refusal.
Liam's fragile life was slipping away with every single second that passed.
I screamed and lunged at Dominic, but a nurse held me back to protect my healing surgical wounds.
Arthur Vanguard did not waste another second negotiating with a terrorist.
My grandfather stepped forward and drove the heavy silver tip of his cane directly into Dominic's stomach.
Dominic collapsed to his knees, gasping for air and dropping the medical clipboard.
Arthur casually picked up the clipboard and signed his own name with a swift, furious motion.
"I am the majority shareholder of the medical board that licenses every doctor in this state," Arthur roared.
He glared at the terrified lead surgeon with eyes full of absolute authority.
"Operate on my great-grandson right now, or I will personally destroy your career," Arthur commanded.
The surgeon did not hesitate for another fraction of a second.
The medical team ripped open the sterile surgical kits and began the procedure right there in the NICU.
Arthur turned his attention back to Dominic, who was still coughing on the floor.
"Throw them into the street, and ensure they are permanently blacklisted from every property I own," Arthur ordered.
The security team violently dragged a screaming Dominic and Natalie out of the intensive care unit.
I collapsed back into my chair, weeping as the doctors successfully stabilized my baby boy.
Once the twins were safe, Arthur led me into a private, heavily guarded VIP lounge down the hall.
He opened his laptop to reveal a massive background check he had run on Dominic's company.
"Your husband is not just a cheating coward, Audrey," Arthur said grimly.
He turned the glowing screen toward me so I could read the terrifying financial documents.
"Dominic has been using your stolen identity to launder money for a ruthless international syndicate."
My stomach dropped as I realized the divorce papers were a deliberate setup.
Dominic had transferred all the illegal syndicate funds into an account with my name on it.
If the federal authorities investigated, I would be sent to a maximum-security prison.
If the dangerous syndicate discovered the money was missing, they would violently murder my entire family.
My cell phone suddenly vibrated on the glass table, displaying an unknown, encrypted caller ID.

I answered the call with a trembling hand, putting the speaker on maximum volume.
"The syndicate enforcers already have your location, Audrey, and they do not leave witnesses," Dominic gloated before hanging up.
