Chapter 8 - The Desperate Scream
I screamed at the top of my lungs as the sharp needle pierced the skin of my arm.
The hospital door was suddenly kicked open by the police officer from the hallway.
Mark instantly dropped the syringe and raised his hands in a gesture of fake surrender.
"She is having a violent psychotic episode and needs sedatives!" Mark yelled to the officer.
The officer rushed forward and pinned my shoulders firmly to the hospital mattress.
"Please look at the tablet on the floor!" I shrieked through the blinding pain.
The officer hesitated for a moment before looking down at the glowing digital screen.
The tablet was playing a hidden security video I had uploaded months ago.
It clearly showed Evan beating me ruthlessly while Mark watched and laughed in the background.
The officer's face turned completely pale as he realized the horrifying truth of the situation.
He released my shoulders gently and stood up slowly from the bed.
He unholstered his service weapon and aimed it directly at Mark's chest.
"Get against the wall right now and put your hands behind your head," the officer commanded fiercely.

Before Mark could comply, the officer's shoulder radio crackled loudly.
The dispatcher announced that Evan had just hijacked a police cruiser and was heading toward the child services building.
