Mark tapped the side of the syringe with a wicked, triumphant smile on his face.
"This will make your heart stop, and they will blame it on the trauma from the fight," he said quietly.

My broken ribs screamed in pure agony, but I absolutely refused to give up.
"If you kill me, my father will eventually wake up and tell them the truth," I threatened boldly.
Mark laughed a dark, humorless laugh and stepped closer to the edge of the bed.
"Your father is currently in a deep coma from the gunshot wound," Mark revealed casually.
I felt a crushing, devastating wave of despair wash over my entire body.
Mark turned his head slightly to check the locked door behind him.

I kicked my legs up and slammed my heavy boots directly into his chest.
Mark stumbled backward wildly, dropping his digital medical tablet onto the floor.
I stretched my foot out and dragged the tablet closer to my reaching hand.
