Chapter 6 - The Frozen King
The abandoned warehouse smelled like rust and decaying fish.
Olivia led Samantha through a maze of rotting shipping containers in the dark.
Rain poured heavily against the tin roof drowning out the sound of their footsteps.
Samantha wrapped her arms around herself to stop her body from shivering.
She asked Olivia how a dead billionaire could possibly be asleep in a fish warehouse.
Olivia explained that the man living in the penthouse was Alexander's ruthless twin brother Marcus.
Marcus had poisoned Alexander five years ago to take control of the family empire.
Victoria had managed to steal Alexander's comatose body and hide him here.
They reached a massive metal shipping container painted in faded red.
Olivia punched a twelve-digit code into a hidden electronic keypad on the door.
The heavy metal doors hissed as pressurized air released from the inside.
They stepped into a pristine white laboratory that completely contrasted the dirty warehouse.
In the center of the room stood a vertical glass cylinder filled with freezing blue liquid.
Floating peacefully inside the tube was the real Alexander Hayes.
He looked exactly like Marcus but his face lacked the cruel sharpness Samantha remembered.
Machines beeped rhythmically as they monitored his slow and steady heartbeat.
Olivia rushed to the computer terminal and began typing frantically to initiate the thawing process.
She told Samantha that Alexander was the only one with the biometric codes to access the corporation's mainframe.
If he woke up he could transfer all the wealth and power back to himself and destroy Marcus.
Samantha stared at the sleeping billionaire and felt a strange sense of hope.
The blue liquid slowly drained from the tank as warm air pumped into the glass chamber.
Alexander's chest rose and fell as he took his first real breath in five years.
His piercing blue eyes fluttered open and locked directly onto Samantha.
The glass door slid open and he stumbled forward into Olivia's waiting arms.
He coughed violently while Olivia wrapped a heavy thermal blanket around his shivering shoulders.
Alexander looked around the bright laboratory with total confusion in his eyes.
He hoarsely asked Olivia how long he had been trapped in the ice.
Olivia smiled gently and told him that it had been five long years.
Alexander looked at Samantha and a sudden expression of pure rage crossed his face.
He violently pushed Olivia away and grabbed a scalpel from the medical tray.
