Chapter 6 - The Stolen Life

The heat from the fireplace felt completely suffocating as Olivia stared at the barrel of the gun.
Robert took a casual sip from a glass of expensive bourbon resting on the side table.
Agent Miller walked into the room behind her and locked the heavy wooden door with a sickening click.
"You are a corrupt federal agent," Olivia whispered, the ultimate betrayal crashing over her like a tidal wave.
"I am a very wealthy federal agent, thanks to your father's generosity," Miller corrected her with a filthy smirk.
Robert stood up slowly and pointed the weapon directly at Olivia's chest.
"I really wanted to raise you as my own daughter, Olivia," Robert sighed with fake, dramatic disappointment.
He ordered Agent Miller to tie her securely to a heavy wooden dining chair in the center of the room.
The rough nylon ropes burned her wrists as the corrupt agent tightened the knots without an ounce of mercy.
Robert paced back and forth across the Persian rug, seemingly eager to brag about his brilliant criminal mastermind.
"I was the chief financial accountant for the Sterling family empire," Robert began explaining his dark history.
He revealed that her biological parents were planning to fire him after discovering his massive embezzlement scheme.
"I paid a mechanic to sever the brake lines on their luxury vehicle before they drove into the mountains," Robert confessed proudly.
He had personally pulled the crying six-month-old infant from the burning wreckage before the police arrived.
He forged the death certificates using his vast wealth and raised the sole heir in secret to control the multi-billion dollar trust fund.
"I just needed you to live long enough to legally sign the trust transfer documents next week," Robert sneered.
He pulled a thick stack of legal papers from his coat pocket and slammed them onto the table in front of her.
"Sign the documents right now, and I promise to make your death quick and painless," he threatened quietly.
Olivia glared at the man who had stolen her entire life and murdered her true family.
"I will absolutely never sign anything for you," Olivia stated with unbreakable, fierce defiance.
Robert cocked the hammer of the handgun with a sharp, terrifying metallic click.
"Then I will simply cut off your fingers one by one until you change your mind," Robert growled.
He stepped closer to the chair, raising the heavy weapon to strike her across the face.

Before the gun could connect with her skin, the massive front window of the safe house violently exploded inward.
A heavy, battered pickup truck crashed directly through the living room wall, showering the men in broken glass and splintered wood.
