Chapter 5 - The Trojan Horse

My family had brought the media directly to my doorstep to witness my spectacular downfall.
If I denied them entry, the paparazzi would immediately spin a narrative about a wealthy, heartless son turning away his loving family on Thanksgiving.
I had absolutely no choice but to let the Trojan horse inside my gates.
I instructed security to open the doors and escort them into the main ballroom.
The room grew incredibly quiet as my parents and brothers strutted onto the marble floor.
They acted completely entitled, inspecting the lavish decorations with obvious, dripping disdain.
My mother loudly commented that the catering looked cheap compared to her traditional home cooking.
James wore a smug, venomous smile, adjusting his expensive silk tie as he looked at my wealthy guests.
Robert casually grabbed a glass of vintage champagne from a passing waiter without saying thank you.
I walked to the center of the room, standing my ground against the people who had abused me for years.
I loudly welcomed them to my home, keeping my tone perfectly polite for the watching crowd.
James immediately stepped forward, demanding to use the microphone set up on the small stage.
He claimed he wanted to give a heartfelt, emotional toast to his younger brother's sudden success.
I knew exactly what he was really doing.
He was going to stall the crowd until the countdown finished and the fabricated documents dropped online.
I gestured to the stage, calling his massive bluff in front of a hundred witnesses.
James confidently grabbed the microphone and signaled to the audiovisual technician in the corner.
He had secretly bribed the technician to mirror his personal phone screen onto the massive projector behind the stage.
James proudly announced that he had a special presentation that would reveal the true nature of my business.
The giant screen flickered to life, illuminating the dark ballroom with a blinding white light.

The entire room gasped in absolute horror, but James was the one who looked the most terrified.
The document displayed on the screen was not the fake evidence against my company.
