The piercing sound of the fire alarm echoed violently through the hospital room.
Doctor Vance cursed loudly and dropped the syringe onto the sterile floor.
He reluctantly unlocked the door and stepped out into the chaotic hallway to check the situation.
I used the precious seconds to pull the IV line out of my bruised hand.
I knew Sarah had pulled the fire alarm to save me from the corrupt doctor.
She rushed into my room through the thick crowd of evacuating patients and staff.

She shoved the drive into my palm and helped me out of the hospital bed.

Sarah nodded and quickly pulled out her personal laptop from the trunk of her car.
She plugged the silver flash drive into the USB port to verify the evidence.
My heart pounded furiously against my ribs as I waited for the file to load on the screen.
The digital folder opened, but it was completely empty.
Sarah gasped in horror and frantically clicked through the computer settings.
She swore to me that the file had successfully transferred just five minutes ago.
