Chapter 2 - The Unwelcome Guest

Selina walked into my hospital room as if she completely owned the place.

She was wearing a stunning red dress that perfectly hugged her curves.

Dr. Reed immediately stepped in front of her.

"Only immediate family is allowed in the ICU," he warned her.

Selina pulled a legal document from her designer handbag and waved it in the air.

"Flynn just signed the paperwork making me her official medical proxy," she sneered.

My blood ran cold.

Flynn had legally trapped me, ensuring Selina could control every aspect of my recovery.

Dr. Reed looked at the document, his jaw tightening in sheer frustration.

"I will be checking on my patient regularly," he promised me before walking out.

Selina pulled up a chair and sat comfortably beside my bed.

"You really should have died on that floor, Mabel," she whispered, her smile never fading.

I kept my face entirely expressionless, refusing to give her the satisfaction of my tears.

"Why are you doing this?" I asked quietly.

"Because Flynn has hundreds of millions of dollars, and I want all of it," she replied without hesitation.

She leaned in close, the scent of her expensive perfume making me nauseous.

"He was going to leave me for you because you got pregnant, so I had to improvise," she confessed.

I squeezed my eyes shut, the agony of losing my twins crashing over me like a tidal wave.

She had faked the scratch on her arm just to provoke Flynn into a murderous rage.

"You will never get away with this," I told her.

"I already have, sweetheart," she laughed.

She explained that Flynn had paid off the local police chief to classify the stabbing as a home invasion.

There was no active investigation against my husband at all.

I was completely trapped in a nightmare with no legal way out.

Two days later, I was discharged and forced into a private ambulance.

They brought me back to the massive Vance estate, placing me under strict house arrest.

Armed security guards stood at the front gates, ensuring I could never leave.

Flynn locked me in the guest bedroom, stating it was for my own safety.

That night, I waited until the house was entirely silent before reaching under my mattress.

I pulled out the burner phone Dr. Reed had given me.

I dialed the only person who could help me destroy Vance Global.

The phone rang twice before a deep, familiar voice answered.

"I told you never to call this number again, Mabel," the man warned.

"I need a massive favor, and I am willing to pay you twenty million dollars for it," I replied.
