Chapter 7 - The Gala Crashers

The grand ballroom of the city's most expensive hotel was overflowing with wealthy elites.

David stood at the center of the room, sipping expensive champagne in a tailored tuxedo.

He was soaking up the sympathetic condolences from the city's powerful investors.

"It is a tragedy about Sarah, but I will guide the company to greatness," David lied smoothly.

Outside in the pouring rain, Detective Miller parked the black sedan near the loading docks.

Sarah stepped out, wearing a stunning black evening gown she had retrieved from her penthouse.

She looked nothing like the broken bride from four days ago.

She looked like an absolute queen returning for her stolen crown.

"I disabled the security cameras near the kitchen entrance," Miller told her quietly.

"I will secure the control room while you make your grand entrance," he added.

Sarah nodded and slipped the loaded handgun into a hidden thigh holster beneath her dress.

She walked through the bustling kitchen, completely ignored by the frantic catering staff.

She pushed open the heavy golden doors and stepped straight into the dazzling ballroom.

The orchestra was playing a soft waltz as the elite guests mingled and laughed.

Sarah grabbed a crystal glass of champagne from a passing waiter's tray.

She walked purposefully toward the center of the room, her high heels clicking loudly on the marble.

A few guests turned to look at her, their eyes widening in sheer horror.

Whispers erupted across the ballroom like a rapidly spreading wildfire.

David heard the commotion and turned around with a fake, practiced smile.

His smile instantly vanished the moment he made eye contact with his legally insane wife.

The crystal champagne flute slipped from David's hand and shattered on the floor.

"Hello, darling," Sarah said loudly, her voice echoing over the quiet music.

"Did you really think you could throw a party without the true owner of the company?" she asked.

David's face turned completely pale as he backed away in terror.

"Security!" David screamed, pointing a trembling finger at Sarah.

"Arrest this woman, she is a dangerous and wanted fugitive!" he yelled frantically.

Four massive security guards rushed forward to tackle Sarah to the ground.

Sarah did not even flinch as the men charged at her.

She raised the encrypted USB drive high in the air for everyone to see.

Suddenly, the massive digital projector screens behind the stage flickered to life.

Detective Miller had successfully connected the drive from the security room.

The screens displayed crystal-clear footage of David and Vanessa in a dark warehouse.

They were openly discussing the plan to poison the wedding and frame Sarah.

The entire ballroom erupted in absolute chaos and furious screaming.

David looked around like a trapped rat, desperately searching for an exit.

He reached inside his tuxedo jacket and pulled out a silver revolver.

He aimed the deadly weapon directly at Sarah's chest.

"Nobody leaves this room alive!" David roared in pure desperation.
