Chapter 10 - The Sweetest Revenge

Sarah held her breath as Detective Miller listened closely to the radio transmission.

A slow, genuine smile finally spread across the weary detective's face.

"He woke up, Sarah," Miller announced happily.

"Your father is out of the coma and asking for you," he added with a warm nod.

Tears of absolute joy streamed down Sarah's face as she hugged the detective tightly.

The nightmare was officially and permanently over.

Six months later, justice had been served cold and hard.

David and Vanessa were both convicted of attempted murder, fraud, and kidnapping.

They were sentenced to forty years in a maximum-security federal prison without the possibility of parole.

The little boy, Leo, was safely returned to his loving adoptive family in the suburbs.

Sarah took full control of her father's multi-million dollar corporation as the new CEO.

Under her brilliant leadership, the company's stock doubled in less than a year.

Her father made a full recovery and happily retired to a quiet beach house.

Sarah finally had her life back, and she was stronger than she had ever been before.

It was a quiet, peaceful Friday evening in her luxury penthouse apartment.

She was pouring a glass of expensive red wine when a soft knock echoed from her front door.

Sarah set the glass down and walked over to check the security camera monitor.

The hallway was completely empty.

She cautiously unlocked the door and peeked outside.

A small, elegantly wrapped white box was resting alone on her welcome mat.

Sarah frowned, picked up the box, and carried it to her kitchen island.

She carefully untied the silver ribbon and lifted the cardboard lid.

Inside the box sat a perfectly intact, miniature white wedding cake made of pristine frosting.

Resting on top of the cake was a small, handwritten note on thick black paper.

Sarah picked up the card, her heart suddenly pounding against her ribs.

The note simply read: "You forgot to invite me to the party, sister. See you very soon."
