Chapter 7 - The Reversal

Rachel confidently aimed the heavy pistol directly at the center of my forehead.

I firmly planted my feet, completely prepared to take the fatal bullet to protect my terrified daughter.

Rachel slowly squeezed the metal trigger with a sickeningly cruel smile on her face.

Suddenly, a massive, deafening explosion completely shattered the heavy skylight on the warehouse roof.

Dozens of heavily armored tactical police officers aggressively repelled down from the ceiling on thick ropes.

The warehouse was instantly flooded with blindingly bright tactical lights and blaring sirens.

"Drop the weapon and put your hands in the air!" a commanding voice boomed through a heavy megaphone.

Rachel panicked wildly, completely blinded by the intense strobe lights flashing everywhere.

She desperately tried to aim her gun at the descending officers, but it was far too late.

A highly trained tactical officer fired a non-lethal rubber bullet directly into her shoulder.

Rachel screamed in absolute agony and dropped her weapon as she collapsed heavily onto the concrete floor.

Police officers instantly swarmed her, violently pinning her down and snapping heavy metal handcuffs onto her wrists.

I completely ignored the absolute chaos and sprinted desperately toward the wooden chair.

I frantically untied the thick ropes and pulled Sophie into a deeply emotional, bone-crushing embrace.

"I have got you, sweetheart, you are perfectly safe now," I wept into her soft hair.

The lead detective walked over to us, holding the heavy legal documents Rachel had forced me to sign.

"We heavily monitored your partner's phone calls and tracked you directly to this location," the detective explained kindly.

Rachel was aggressively dragged to her feet by two massive police officers.

She glared at me with absolute, pure, and entirely unadulterated venom.

"You think you have actually won, Daniel?" she spat blood onto the dirty floor.

"My secret partner already took a digital copy of those signed documents and fled the country hours ago."

I felt a sudden, terrifying chill violently run completely down my spine.

If her mysterious partner filed those documents, my daughter and I would be left completely destitute.

"Who is your partner?" I demanded furiously, stepping incredibly close to her bruised face.

Rachel laughed maniacally as the police dragged her toward the waiting patrol cars.

"Your own beloved brother is waiting for me in a non-extradition country right now," she revealed wickedly.
