Chapter 6 - The Viper Arrives

The security monitors in the panic room flared to life.
Five heavily armored vehicles parked aggressively on the front lawn.
Dozens of armed men stepped out into the pouring rain.
A tall man in a tailored black overcoat emerged from the center vehicle.
He walked with a silver-tipped cane and carried a calm arrogance.
Vincenzo Moretti had come to claim his throne.
Dominic loaded fresh magazines into his weapon.
He told Norah to stay in the vault and keep his father quiet.
Norah refused to hide in a box while a war started outside.
She argued that Vincenzo needed Salvatore alive to officially transfer the family assets.
Dominic knew she was right but hated it.
They left the panic room and walked out to the grand staircase.
Vincenzo pushed the ruined front doors open.
He smiled warmly when he saw his nephew.
He claimed he heard about the attack and came to protect his beloved brother.
Dominic kept his gun aimed at the floor but ready to fire.
Vincenzo's cold eyes drifted past Dominic and landed on Norah.
He studied her blue scrubs and the cheap watch on her wrist.
Then his gaze locked onto the silver pendant.
Vincenzo smiled a smile that made Norah's blood run cold.
He commented that the agency must be sending top-tier medical staff these days.
Norah kept her face perfectly blank.
She introduced herself as the new hospice nurse.
Vincenzo stepped up the stairs slowly.
He asked if she enjoyed taking care of dead men.
Dominic stepped between them.
He told his uncle that Salvatore was resting and taking no visitors.
Vincenzo laughed softly.
He snapped his fingers.
Two of his men dragged a beaten and bloody figure into the foyer.
It was the agency director who had hired Norah.
Vincenzo pulled a gun and shot the man in the head without blinking.
May you like
He looked at Norah with dead eyes.
I know exactly who you are, Miss Bellandi.
