Chapter 9 - The Ultimate Betrayal

I stared at the signature on the contract, feeling the entire world collapse beneath my feet.

My father, a billionaire tech mogul who abandoned me twenty years ago, was the puppet master.

He needed a heart transplant, and he had orchestrated my fake marriage to Diego just to keep his perfect donor close.

Diego, Beatriz, and Fernanda were nothing but paid actors hired to keep me healthy and compliant.

Suddenly, the heavy mahogany doors of the private office swung open.

Dr. Salgado walked in, followed closely by Diego, whose arm was heavily bandaged from the bone saw.

"You always were entirely too clever for your own good, Ana," Diego sneered, pulling out a fresh pistol.

"My own father paid you to butcher me?" I whispered, clutching the file to my chest.

"He offered us twenty million dollars and full immunity from his criminal connections," Salgado explained calmly.

"Family is a business, Ana, and your heart is a very lucrative asset."

Diego raised the gun, aiming it directly at my forehead.

"Any last words before we take you to the operating table?" Diego mocked.

I looked at the men who had destroyed my life, feeling absolute clarity instead of fear.

"Yes," I replied smoothly, pressing a button on the burner phone Elena had given me.

"I hope you smile for the cameras."

I had live-streamed their entire confession directly to the FBI's anonymous tip portal.

The glass windows of the office suddenly shattered inward as stun grenades exploded across the room.

"FBI, drop your weapons immediately!" heavily armed federal agents screamed as they breached the doors.

Diego turned to shoot, but a tactical agent tackled him violently to the ground.

Dr. Salgado fell to his knees, throwing his hands in the air like an absolute coward.

I walked over to Diego as the agents snapped heavy metal handcuffs onto his wrists.

"I want a divorce," I whispered, dropping the red file onto his chest.

An FBI agent gently placed a warm blanket around my shoulders and escorted me out of the nightmare.

As I walked out of the clinic, I saw an armored federal transport van pull up to the curb.

"I will get that heart, Ana!" my father screamed as the agents shoved him into the back of the transport van.
