Chapter 17 - The Blood Tie

The explosion sent a massive shockwave through the estate, shattering every remaining pane of glass.

Vincent used the fiery distraction to eliminate the last few surviving mercenaries in the courtyard.

He ran inside the mansion, taking the marble stairs two at a time to reach the second floor.

He burst onto the balcony and pulled Harper into a desperate, crushing embrace.

He scolded her fiercely for risking her life, but his eyes were filled with absolute awe and fierce pride.

The courtyard below was now completely silent, littered with burning vehicles and defeated enemies.

Elias ran up the stairs, his face covered in soot, carrying a ringing cell phone recovered from a mercenary.

He handed the device to Vincent, nodding gravely at the caller ID displayed on the cracked screen.

It was Evelyn, calling her strike team for a status update.

Vincent answered the phone and put it on speaker so Harper could hear every word.

He spoke in a low, terrifying growl, informing Evelyn that her army was entirely dead.

Evelyn did not panic; she simply sighed heavily into the receiver.

She told Vincent that taking the estate was only a distraction for her true objective.

She calmly stated that she had just kidnapped Simon's younger brother and would torture him until the territory was surrendered.

Vincent’s blood ran cold as he realized the depth of the woman's ruthless depravity.

He looked at Harper, knowing that they had to end the serpent at its head tonight.

They had to go back to the nursing home.
