Chapter 8 - The Dockyard Assault

The rain fell in freezing sheets as Adrian and Luca's strike team approached the desolate shipping yards.

Pier 9 was a massive labyrinth of rusted metal shipping containers and towering steel cranes.

Adrian moved through the shadows with lethal precision, his body remembering the violence it was built for.

They eliminated Dominic's perimeter guards silently, snapping necks and using suppressed weapons.

They reached the center of the pier, where a single floodlight illuminated a clearing.

Rosa was tied to a wooden chair in the middle of the rain-soaked concrete.

Dominic was pacing back and forth, holding a heavy electronic detonator in his left hand.

"He is waiting for you, Adrian!" Dominic shouted into the darkness, knowing his brother was out there.

"Come out and unlock the accounts, or I press this button and turn her to ash."

Adrian signaled Luca to move to the high ground on the nearest crane.

Adrian stepped out of the shadows, walking slowly into the harsh glare of the floodlight.

"I am right here, Dominic," Adrian said, keeping his rifle aimed at his brother's chest.

"Put your weapon down and unlock the tablet!" Dominic screamed, his thumb hovering over the red button.

Suddenly, a tiny, terrified voice echoed from inside the metal shipping container directly behind Rosa.

"Mama?" Lily cried out from the darkness.

Adrian's heart stopped completely.

Dominic had found the little girl after all, and he had locked her inside the explosive-rigged container.

"You have ten seconds, brother," Dominic smiled sadistically.

Before Adrian could lower his weapon, Rosa did something completely impossible.

She violently dislocated her own right thumb, slipping her bloody hand free from the thick zip-ties.

Rosa lunged forward from the chair and drove a concealed ceramic blade directly into Dominic's neck.
