Chapter 4 - The Chemist's Widow
Adrian did not draw his weapon, keeping his hands perfectly still at his sides.
"My brother is currently trying to poison me to death," Adrian stated calmly.
"If you want him dead, we share a common goal."
Rosa kept her hidden weapon ready, measuring the truth in Adrian's words.
"My real name is not Rosa," she confessed, her voice thick with old grief.
"My husband was Dr. Elias Vance, the lead chemical engineer for the Navarro Cartel."
Adrian recognized the name instantly from the old intelligence reports.
"Dominic told our family he executed Dr. Vance five years ago," Adrian said.
Rosa let out a dark, bitter laugh.
"Dominic did not kill him," she corrected sharply.
"Dominic kidnapped him and forced him to synthesize the neurotoxin he is using on you."
Adrian felt a sickening knot form in his stomach as the pieces finally clicked together.
"When my husband finished the formula, Dominic murdered him and burned our house to the ground," Rosa whispered.
"I barely escaped with Lily, and I paid a back-alley surgeon to change my face so I could hide in plain sight."
She had infiltrated the Moretti mansion to find the evidence needed to destroy Dominic forever.
"I found the master ledger in his office last night," Rosa revealed.
"It proves Dominic has been selling your weapons to the Navarros in exchange for their support in his coup."
Before Adrian could form a plan, his encrypted radio buzzed loudly.
It was the front gate security guard.

"Boss, Dominic just pulled up with three heavily armored SUVs," the guard reported nervously.
"And he brought Alejandro Navarro with him."
