Chapter 6 - The Dead Man's Switch

Adrian knew he had exactly one second to prevent a bloodbath.
Before Navarro could draw his weapon, Adrian intentionally knocked his full glass of red wine onto the contract.
The dark liquid instantly ruined the paper, causing Dominic to curse loudly.
"You clumsy fool!" Dominic yelled, turning his attention away from Rosa.
Rosa used the distraction to seamlessly slip out of the dining room and disappear down the hallway.
Navarro frowned, distracted by the ruined documents, but his suspicion lingered.
"I will print another copy," Dominic sneered, glaring at his older brother.
"There is no need," Adrian said quietly, his hands suddenly completely still.
Adrian dropped the act entirely, sitting up straight with the terrifying posture of a true Mafia boss.
Dominic and Navarro both froze, realizing something had drastically changed.
"I am not signing over the port, Dominic," Adrian stated, his voice ringing with absolute authority.
"You have been poisoning me for three years, and your pathetic coup ends tonight."
Dominic’s shock quickly morphed into a sinister, triumphant laugh.
"You figured it out?" Dominic chuckled, pulling a suppressed handgun from his suit.
"It does not matter, Adrian, because my men have already surrounded the entire estate."
Dominic aimed the gun directly at Adrian's chest.
"Sign the digital transfer on your tablet right now, or I will have my men slaughter the maid and her brat."
Adrian looked at the tablet resting on the table.
He calmly typed his master password into the digital transfer screen and pressed enter.
Dominic smiled greedily as the tablet chimed in confirmation.
"Thank you, brother," Dominic mocked.
"You just made a fatal mistake," Adrian replied coldly.
The tablet screen suddenly flashed red, locking down every single bank account in the Moretti empire.

"That was a dead man's switch," Adrian explained as the mansion's emergency alarms began to scream.
"I just froze thirty billion dollars, and it cannot be unlocked without my living biometric scan."
