Chapter 5 - The Surprise Dinner

Adrian’s heart hammered against his ribs as he listened to the radio transmission.

Bringing the head of a rival cartel to the Moretti estate was an open act of treason.

"They are coming to force you to sign the port authority over tonight," Rosa warned, her grip tightening on her hidden gun.

"Stay here and keep Lily completely silent," Adrian ordered.

He unlocked the laundry room door and walked back up the stairs, forcing his hands to tremble again.

He entered the grand foyer just as Dominic and Alejandro Navarro walked through the front doors.

Navarro was a massive, scarred man who looked at Adrian with blatant disrespect.

"I decided to host a spontaneous dinner, brother," Dominic announced with a cruel smile.

"Mr. Navarro is very interested in the Southside port, and I thought we should finalize the paperwork immediately."

"I am too tired for a dinner party, Dominic," Adrian mumbled, playing the pathetic victim.

"You will sit down and sign the papers, or we will have a much more difficult conversation," Dominic threatened openly.

Adrian allowed himself to be guided into the dining room, sitting across from the ruthless cartel boss.

Dominic poured three glasses of expensive red wine and slid the contract across the table.

"Sign it, Adrian," Dominic commanded.

Adrian picked up the gold fountain pen, letting it shake violently in his hand.

Suddenly, the dining room doors swung open, and Rosa walked in carrying a silver tray of appetizers.

She kept her head down, playing the role of the terrified maid perfectly.

But Alejandro Navarro stopped drinking his wine and stared intensely at Rosa.

"Wait a minute," Navarro growled, pointing a thick finger at the housekeeper.

"I know those eyes."

Navarro stood up from his chair, reaching for the heavy pistol holstered inside his jacket.
