Chapter 10 - The False Victory

Adrian stared at the barrel of the gun, the freezing rain soaking through his tactical gear.

Luca and the strike team instantly raised their rifles, aiming a dozen laser sights directly at Rosa's chest.

"Put the gun down, Rosa," Adrian commanded, trying to make sense of the sudden betrayal.

Rosa did not flinch, her expression as cold and unreadable as carved stone.

"Tell your men to lower their weapons, or I shoot you right between the eyes," Rosa ordered perfectly.

Adrian realized she was absolutely serious, and her training was far superior to a simple chemist's widow.

"Stand down, Luca," Adrian ordered without looking away from the woman.

The strike team reluctantly lowered their rifles.

Rosa slowly backed away toward the edge of the pier, keeping the gun trained on Adrian's face.

"You saved my life tonight, Adrian, and for that, I am sparing yours," Rosa stated coldly.

"But the Moretti empire ends today."

A sleek, black stealth helicopter suddenly crested over the shipping cranes, its searchlights blinding the strike team.

The side door slid open, and two heavily armed operatives dropped a rope ladder down to Rosa.

She climbed the ladder with incredible speed, holding Lily tightly against her body.

The helicopter banked sharply and vanished into the stormy night sky, leaving Adrian alive and victorious over his traitorous brother.

Adrian had survived the assassination, eliminated Dominic, and fully reclaimed his position as the undisputed king of the city.

He returned to his mansion an hour later, exhausted but finally in complete control of his own mind and his empire.

He walked into his private study to lock away Dominic's treasonous files in the main vault.

When he opened the heavy steel door, he found the vault completely empty except for a single manila folder resting on a chair.

Adrian opened the folder and found a verified DNA test and a birth certificate from three years ago.

The documents proved that Lily was not Rosa's daughter at all; she was Adrian's biological child, stolen from his first wife's hospital room the night she supposedly died.

And the final page was a direct message from the High Commission, thanking Adrian for keeping the true heir safe until their top cleaner could retrieve her to rule the rival syndicate.
