Chapter 9 - The Traitor's Face

Arthur walked slowly toward them, his scarred face twisted into a vicious, victorious smile.

He kicked Nico's fallen weapon far away across the rough concrete floor.

He looked down at the bleeding, helpless mafia boss with a gaze of absolute disgust.

Arthur proudly admitted that he had orchestrated the entire bloody war with the rival Romano syndicate.

He explained how he planted the chip to perfectly frame Norah and ensure Nico would blindly order her death.

He knew Nico's legendary arrogance and broken heart would completely blind him to the obvious truth.

Norah dropped to her knees and desperately pressed her hands against Nico's bleeding shoulder to stop the flow.

Nico groaned in agony, his face turning terrifyingly pale in the dim, flickering subway light.

Arthur calmly aimed his pistol directly at the back of Norah's head.

He mocked her, thanking her for being the perfect, naive scapegoat for his grand ascension.

He placed his finger on the trigger, fully preparing to execute them both and take over the empire.

Norah closed her eyes tightly and braced her body for the fatal, inevitable impact.

Suddenly, the entire tunnel was violently illuminated by blinding, military-grade tactical lights.

A massive fleet of armored vehicles crashed aggressively through the barricades at the tunnel entrance.

Dozens of heavily armed, professional soldiers poured out of the black trucks.

But they were not wearing the familiar dark suits of the Costa family.

They were wearing the blood-red tactical gear of the Romano syndicate.
