Chapter 4 - The Cartel Princess

Dominic shoved Vanessa hard onto the kitchen tiles and aimed his gun at the melting shutters.
He demanded that Hannah tell him exactly who was trying to break into his house.
Hannah wiped the fresh blood from her hands and finally dropped her innocent act.
She confessed that she was indeed the last surviving member of the Rossi crime family.
She said the Whitmore syndicate had slaughtered her parents to steal their global shipping routes.
Hannah apologized quietly for bringing this deadly war to his front door.
Dominic never took his eyes off the sparking steel shutters.
He told her that he had always hated his future father-in-law anyway.
He pulled a spare loaded pistol from his ankle holster and slid it across the floor to her.
Hannah caught the heavy weapon with practiced, effortless ease.
She checked the chamber and turned the safety off without blinking.
Dominic realized he was looking at a woman raised by ruthless cartel warlords.
The heavy steel shutter finally gave way and crashed onto the floor.
Five heavily armed mercenaries in dark tactical gear poured into the kitchen.
Dominic opened fire immediately and dropped the first two men in the doorway.
Hannah dove gracefully behind the marble cooking island and returned fire.
She shot with a terrifying accuracy that instantly killed a third mercenary.
The remaining men took cover behind the commercial refrigerators and threw a flashbang grenade.
A blinding white light and deafening explosion rocked the entire room.
Dominic felt a sudden sharp pain as a bullet grazed his left shoulder.
He fell blindly to the floor and tried to blink the bright spots from his eyes.
He heard the heavy boots of a mercenary walking slowly toward him through the thick smoke.
The man aimed an assault rifle directly at Dominic's chest.
A single gunshot rang out before the mercenary could pull his trigger.
Hannah stepped out of the smoke and shot the man perfectly in the center of his forehead.
She grabbed Dominic by the collar of his ruined suit and pulled him to his feet.
She told him they needed to retreat before the rest of the Whitmore army breached the front gates.
Dominic pointed toward a heavy wooden pantry door at the back of the room.
He told her there was a secret smuggling tunnel hidden beneath the floorboards.
They grabbed Walter's unconscious body and dragged him toward the hidden exit.
Vanessa suddenly jumped up from the floor and grabbed a fallen mercenary's rifle.
She aimed the heavy weapon directly at Hannah's back.
Vanessa screamed that nobody was leaving the house alive.
Dominic turned around but knew he was completely out of time to shoot.

The kitchen doors suddenly burst open as Dominic's right-hand man entered the room.
Silas raised his shotgun and fired a massive blast directly at Vanessa.
