Chapter 8 - The Frame Job

The rain continued to pour as Arthur was violently slammed against the side of the SUV.
The corrupt police captain placed heavy steel handcuffs tightly around Arthur's wrists.
"Marcus owns the police department too," Anna realized with absolute horror.
Victoria immediately locked the doors of the vehicle from the inside to protect Anna and the boy.
"Open this door right now or I will shatter the glass," the captain threatened Victoria.
"This is a federal-grade armored vehicle and your bullets will do absolutely nothing," Victoria yelled back defiantly.
The captain angrily banged his gun against the reinforced window but it did not even leave a scratch.
Arthur struggled against the officers holding him down on the wet pavement.
"You know Marcus is framing me!" Arthur screamed at the captain.
"Marcus pays much better than the city does," the captain whispered darkly into Arthur's ear.
Suddenly the sound of screeching tires echoed down the empty highway.
Three black unmarked federal SUVs aggressively swerved and boxed in the local police cruisers.
Doors flew open and heavily armed FBI agents swarmed the scene with assault rifles raised.
"Drop your weapons immediately!" the lead federal agent commanded through a megaphone.
The corrupt captain hesitated for a moment before slowly lowering his gun to the ground.
The local officers realized they were entirely outmatched and quickly surrendered their firearms.
A tall man in a sharp suit stepped out of the lead federal vehicle and walked toward Arthur.
"Director Vance, you took your time," Victoria said loudly as she finally unlocked the SUV doors.
Arthur looked at Victoria in complete astonishment.
"You know the director of the FBI?" Arthur asked in disbelief.
Victoria smiled perfectly and smoothed out her ruined designer dress.
"I do not just run security software, Arthur," Victoria revealed calmly.
"I am a federal auditor who has been investigating Marcus for corporate espionage for over two years."
Director Vance ordered his agents to remove the handcuffs from Arthur's wrists.
"We intercepted the distress beacon Victoria triggered at the warehouse," the Director explained.
"My agents have already secured Marcus and the mercenaries at the docks."
Anna let out a long breath of relief and pulled her son closer.
"Is it really over?" the boy asked as he looked at the flashing lights.
"Yes, sweetheart, the bad men are finally gone," Anna cried softly.
Paramedics arrived on the scene minutes later and rushed Anna to the nearest trauma center.
Arthur rode in the back of the ambulance and held his daughter's hand the entire way.
For the first time in seven years Arthur felt like his family was finally safe.

But as the ambulance doors closed Arthur noticed a black motorcycle parked in the shadows across the street.
The rider was wearing a dark helmet and slowly lowered a high-powered sniper rifle.
