Chapter 7 - The Betrayal

Emma froze in her tracks, completely unable to comprehend what was happening.
Her own flesh and blood was pointing a loaded weapon directly at her chest.
"Melanie, what are you doing?" Emma whispered, her voice breaking with deep, agonizing betrayal.
"I am securing my future," Melanie laughed, a cruel, unfamiliar sound echoing in the warehouse.
The Kovac boss stepped out from the shadows, wrapping his thick arm around Melanie's waist.
"Your sister was very cooperative when we offered her ten million dollars to help us," the Russian boss explained.
"You always had the perfect life, Emma, the perfect husband, the perfect child," Melanie spat viciously.
"I was tired of living in your pathetic, struggling shadow."
Emma felt her heart completely shatter into a million irreparable pieces.
Melanie had deliberately leaked their location to the Kovac cartel to orchestrate the mansion attack.
"Kill her, and let's go collect the money," Melanie told the ruthless mafia boss.
The Kovac leader raised his heavy gun, aiming it directly at Emma's head.
Before he could pull the trigger, the glass skylight above them violently shattered inward.
Alexander descended on a tactical rope, crashing into the warehouse like a vengeful god of war.
He opened fire immediately, pinning the Kovac guards behind rusted shipping crates.
Emma dove to the dirty floor, covering her head as bullets flew fiercely in every direction.
Alexander fought his way to her side, shielding her body completely with his own.
"I told you to stay in the bunker!" he roared, though his eyes showed immense relief that she was alive.
The Kovac boss realized he was losing the sudden gunfight and signaled for his final trump card.
