Chapter 6 - The Trap

The video feed cut out completely, leaving Emma staring at a black screen in absolute horror.
"We have to go save her right now!" Emma pleaded, grabbing Alexander's blood-stained jacket.
"It is a trap designed specifically to draw us out of this secure bunker," Alexander warned firmly.
"I do not care about your mafia wars, that is my sister!" she screamed at him.
Alexander grabbed her shoulders gently, his dark eyes filled with intense, protective determination.
"I will assemble my best strike team, but you must stay here where it is safe," he ordered.
He turned his back to unlock the heavy weapon racks lining the bunker walls.
Emma knew that Alexander would prioritize destroying his enemies over saving Melanie's life.
She quietly slipped a small, loaded pistol from a discarded tactical vest on the floor.
When Alexander was distracted by his men, Emma keyed the emergency exit code into the secondary door.
She slipped out into the dark drainage tunnels beneath the estate entirely alone.
She navigated the damp, terrifying maze using the flashlight on her cell phone.
She finally emerged into the rainy night and stole an abandoned car from the edge of the property.
She drove recklessly to the abandoned shipyard coordinate the Kovac boss had texted her.
She gripped the cold pistol tightly, fully prepared to trade her own life for her sister's safety.
She pushed open the rusted metal doors of the massive, empty warehouse.
Melanie was sitting perfectly still in the metal chair in the center of the dark room.
Emma ran desperately toward her, tears streaming down her wet face.
"I am here, Melanie, I am going to get you out," Emma cried, reaching for the thick ropes.
But Melanie did not look scared, and the ropes were completely loose.

Melanie casually stood up, brushing the dirt off her expensive designer jeans.
"You really are incredibly naive, Emma," Melanie sneered, pulling a gun from her own waistband.
