Chapter 8 - The Mayor's Game
The corrupt Mayor stepped into the ruined medical room, looking completely out of place in his expensive, tailored suit.
He slowly clapped his hands together, a terrifying, mocking sound that completely filled the tense silence.
The heavily armed SWAT officers immediately aimed their laser-sighted assault rifles directly at Daniel's chest.
The Mayor smiled warmly and politely asked Daniel to put the stolen weapon on the floor before someone got hurt.
Daniel knew he could not fight an entire squad of elite tactical officers, so he slowly lowered the gun to the ground.

He coldly stated that Elias Thorne was a complete fool for trusting an incompetent mechanic to do a professional's job.
The Mayor revealed that he had been secretly monitoring Elias's communications for months, waiting for the perfect moment to strike.
He had personally ordered the SWAT team to follow Joe directly to this abandoned clinic to retrieve the physical ledger.
Daniel spat blood onto the linoleum floor, completely refusing to show an ounce of fear to the corrupt politician.
He told the Mayor that the real ledger was perfectly hidden in a place they would absolutely never find.
The Mayor laughed softly, stating that he did not actually need the physical book to maintain his absolute power.
He explained that without the ledger, there was absolutely zero proof of his massive criminal enterprise.
He planned to execute Daniel, Joe, and Sarah, and then completely blame the entire bloodbath on Elias Thorne.
The Mayor signaled to his lead tactical officer to quietly finish the execution and clean up the bloody mess.
The officer raised his rifle, aiming it directly at the back of Daniel's exhausted head.
Daniel closed his eyes, silently apologizing to his late father for failing to expose the massive conspiracy.
Suddenly, the deafening sound of heavily armored vehicles crashing into the clinic completely shook the very foundation of the building.
The wall behind the Mayor violently exploded inward, showering the entire room in broken brick and blinding dust.
A massive, military-grade tactical transport vehicle had completely rammed through the side of the fragile building.
Elias Thorne stepped out of the heavy vehicle, his clothes burned and his face twisted into a mask of pure, homicidal rage.
