Chapter 6 - The Trap

The heavy steel blast doors locked with a deafening, terrifying thud that echoed through the dark ruins.

Elias Thorne spun around, his arrogant expression instantly replaced by absolute, uncontrollable panic.

The heavily armed mercenaries raised their rifles, wildly pointing their weapons in every single direction.

Daniel had secretly designed this lockdown system years ago to protect his expensive custom motorcycles from organized theft.

The thick steel walls were completely bulletproof and completely sealed the entire garage from the outside world.

Elias screamed at his men to shoot Daniel immediately, demanding that they blow the heavy doors open.

Daniel sprinted toward a hidden maintenance hatch located directly beneath the destroyed hydraulic lift.

He dove headfirst into the dark, narrow tunnel just as a hail of automatic gunfire completely shredded the space where he had been standing.

He crawled frantically through the dirt and darkness, his elbows bleeding as he navigated the tight underground escape route.

The tunnel led entirely out of the garage and opened into a forgotten storm drain system beneath the city streets.

He could hear the muffled, frantic explosions of Elias's men trying desperately to blast their way out of the steel trap.

Daniel knew the reinforced doors would easily hold them for at least an hour, giving him enough time to save Sarah.

He emerged from a rusted manhole cover two blocks away and immediately stole a heavy delivery truck left idling near a diner.

He drove like an absolute madman, running red lights and completely ignoring the blaring horns of early morning traffic.

He arrived back at the abandoned veterinary clinic just as the sun began to slowly rise over the gloomy city skyline.

He quietly parked the heavy truck and crept toward the clinic, gripping his heavy steel wrench tightly.

The two armed guards Elias had left behind were casually smoking cigarettes near the front entrance.

Daniel moved like a lethal shadow, completely fueled by adrenaline and the desperate need to protect his only friend.

He struck the first guard brutally in the back of the knees, sending him crashing heavily to the wet pavement.

He spun completely around and hurled the heavy wrench directly into the second guard's chest, knocking him completely unconscious.

Daniel rushed into the dusty clinic, desperately calling out Sarah's name into the silent building.

He ran to the back medical room, completely expecting to find her still unconscious on the cold floor.

Instead, the room was completely empty, and the medical supplies were violently scattered everywhere.

A large pool of fresh, bright red blood stained the very center of the old linoleum floor.

Daniel fell to his knees in absolute despair, realizing he was entirely too late to save her.

Suddenly, he heard the faint, terrifying sound of a suppressed pistol cocking directly behind his head.

Joe’s familiar, gravelly voice echoed coldly through the empty room, ordering Daniel to stay perfectly still.
