Chapter 8 - The Forged Document

The Chief of Police handed the official document back to Calvin with a heavy, deeply apologetic sigh.
Calvin folded the paper carefully, his arrogant, victorious smile returning with absolute, terrifying, and profound confidence.
He looked at me with cruel, highly mocking eyes and strictly ordered me to get off his property immediately.
Ms. Penelope stepped forward, her expensive heels clicking loudly against the stone pavement of the long driveway.
She calmly told the Chief that we would strictly respect the law and peacefully leave the premises for now.
I stared at her in absolute disbelief, fiercely demanding to know why we were suddenly surrendering to a criminal.
She squeezed my arm gently, silently promising me that this terrifying war was far from actually being over.
We walked away from the estate, leaving Calvin and Tabitha to openly celebrate their supposedly flawless, legal victory.
We spent the rest of the day at Ms. Penelope's downtown law firm, carefully preparing for the ultimate, final confrontation.
The official reading of my father's will was scheduled for the very next morning in the estate's grand living room.
When we arrived at the house the following day, Calvin and Tabitha were already sitting comfortably on the expensive leather sofa.
My brother Kyle sat nervously in a corner armchair, looking completely exhausted and deeply, undeniably guilty.
The honorable Judge Hastings, my father's oldest trusted friend, sat at the head of the table to officially moderate the proceedings.
Calvin smugly placed his signed property transfer document directly onto the absolute center of the polished mahogany table.
He announced that there was no need to read the outdated will since he already legally owned the entire estate.
Judge Hastings carefully examined the transfer document, adjusting his glasses and frowning deeply at the specific legal phrasing.
The judge solemnly declared that the signature was undeniably authentic and the document was technically and entirely binding.
Tabitha let out a loud, triumphant laugh, openly and cruelly mocking me for trying to fight a completely losing battle.
Calvin confidently ordered his private security guards to physically remove me from his expensive, newly acquired house.
The heavy guards stepped forward aggressively, completely prepared to forcefully drag me right out the front door.
Ms. Penelope raised her hand powerfully, commanding the entire room to stop in absolute, stunning silence.
She reached into her sleek briefcase and pulled out the damp, wrinkled envelope I had found hidden in the garden.
She announced that my father had left one final, highly specific addendum that absolutely superseded every other document in existence.
Calvin scoffed loudly, claiming that a dirty piece of garden trash could never possibly hold up in a real court of law.
Judge Hastings took the envelope, carefully broke the wax seal, and read the first paragraph of the hidden letter.
The judge's eyes widened in sheer shock, and he looked directly at Calvin with profound, absolute, and unhidden disgust.

He declared that this letter officially activated a dormant legal clause that completely, permanently changed the fate of the entire estate.
Calvin's face turned completely red with rage, and he violently reached inside his jacket to pull out a loaded handgun.
