Chapter 5 - The False Accusation

I stepped slowly into the bright light of the living room with my hands raised completely above my head.
The police officer kept his heavy weapon aimed directly at my chest, his expression hard and incredibly unforgiving.
Calvin pointed at me with his uninjured hand, shouting loudly that I was a dangerous, completely unstable lunatic.
He told the officers that I had completely lost my mind after the tragic, sudden death of my wealthy father.
I calmly stated that Calvin was a masterful liar who had actually just tried to kill me with toxic gas.
Tabitha dramatically gasped and clutched Calvin's arm, begging the officers to arrest me immediately to keep them safe.
The second officer approached me cautiously and aggressively forced my hands behind my back to apply cold steel handcuffs.
Ms. Penelope confidently stepped out of the hallway shadows, her designer suit still slightly covered in gray bunker dust.
She loudly announced herself as my legal counsel and explicitly demanded that the officers lower their dangerous weapons.
She formally informed them that Calvin was currently under active investigation for massive corporate fraud and attempted murder.
The lead officer scoffed arrogantly, stating that he was responding to a violent domestic disturbance, not a complex white-collar crime.
He completely ignored Ms. Penelope's brilliant legal arguments and forcefully pushed me toward the heavy front door.
I realized in a terrifying flash of absolute clarity that Calvin had likely bribed these specific officers to ensure my arrest.
If they successfully took me away to the local precinct, Calvin would have full, unrestricted access to destroy the underground bunker.
I desperately locked eyes with Mr. Henderson, who was still silently hiding in the dark hallway shadows.
I gave him a subtle, desperate nod toward the kitchen door, silently begging him to secure the hidden ledgers.
The aggressive officer shoved me roughly out the front door and down the grand stone steps of the estate.
Calvin stood proudly on the porch with a victorious, sickening smirk plastered entirely across his handsome face.
He softly whispered that he would happily send me a postcard after he demolished my beloved white rose garden.
The officer forcefully guided me toward a heavily tinted, unmarked black police cruiser idling quietly in the driveway.
He opened the back door and aggressively shoved me onto the hard plastic seat, slamming the heavy door shut.
I looked around the interior of the car and realized there was absolutely no standard police radio or computer terminal.
The officer climbed into the driver's seat and slowly pulled down the sun visor to check his reflection in the mirror.
He casually reached up and peeled off his highly realistic silicone mask, revealing a heavily scarred, completely unfamiliar face.
He turned around to look at me with dead, entirely emotionless eyes and smiled a truly terrifying, wicked smile.

He calmly informed me that we were absolutely not going to the police station today.
He stated that Calvin had paid him a massive fortune to ensure I permanently disappeared before the official will reading.
