Chapter 7 - The Bulldozer Threat

The deafening roar of the massive bulldozers completely shattered the peaceful, serene quiet of the early morning.
I sprinted frantically across the damp lawn, my torn clothes covered entirely in wet mud and dried blood.
Calvin stood triumphantly near the garden gate, directing the heavy machinery with a smug, highly arrogant wave of his hand.
Tabitha was standing right beside him, holding a steaming cup of expensive coffee and laughing loudly at the impending destruction.
I threw myself directly in front of the lead bulldozer, raising my arms aggressively to force the driver to stop.
The massive machine screeched to a sudden, violent halt, stopping mere inches from my exhausted, trembling body.
The startled driver killed the engine and immediately climbed down from the heavy metal cab in sheer, undeniable panic.
Calvin's arrogant smile vanished instantly, completely replaced by a look of absolute, terrified, and profound shock.
He stared at me as if he were looking at a literal ghost returning furiously from the dead.
I yelled at the construction crew that this was private property and they were unwittingly participating in a massive federal crime.
The highly confused workers immediately backed away, completely refusing to continue working while a bleeding woman stood in their path.
Calvin furiously charged toward me, his face twisting completely into an ugly mask of pure, unadulterated rage.
He demanded to know how I had possibly survived the perfect, expensive trap he had paid so much to orchestrate.
I slapped him completely across the face with every single ounce of physical strength I had left in my entire body.
I told him that he was a pathetic, greedy coward who could absolutely never destroy my father's true legacy.
Tabitha shrieked aggressively and tried to violently lunge at me with her sharp, perfectly manicured nails.
Suddenly, the loud wail of multiple police sirens echoed wildly down the long, winding, gravel driveway.
Four official, fully marked police cruisers skidded to a halt directly on the pristine, green front lawn.
Ms. Penelope stepped out of the lead vehicle, accompanied heavily by the actual, legitimate Chief of Police.
She had finally managed to convince the real authorities about Calvin's massive, ongoing, and highly dangerous criminal conspiracy.
The Chief of Police ordered his officers to completely surround Calvin and Tabitha to forcefully prevent their escape.
Calvin quickly recovered his composure, slicking back his expensive hair and smiling a confident, highly snake-like smile.
He casually told the Chief that this was simply a minor family dispute over some completely outdated landscaping.
He reached arrogantly into his tailored suit jacket and pulled out a crisp, officially sealed, thick legal document.
He loudly announced that my father had signed this exact document weeks before he tragically and suddenly passed away.
He waved the paper in the air, proudly declaring that it immediately transferred total ownership of the entire estate to him.
He demanded that the police arrest me immediately for trespassing on his newly acquired, expensive private property.

The Chief of Police carefully reviewed the signature on the document, his expression turning incredibly and darkly grim.
He looked up at me and apologized, stating that the legal property transfer appeared to be completely, undeniably legitimate.
