Chapter 7 - The Struggle

Elena gasped in excruciating pain as the sharp blade tore through her shoulder muscles.
Sylvia violently yanked the bloody knife out, preparing to deliver a second, fatal strike to the chest.
Adrenaline surged through Elena's veins, entirely overriding her terrifying pain.
She aggressively dodged the next knife thrust and tackled Sylvia fiercely to the hardwood floor.
The two women rolled across the nursery, knocking over lamps and shattering expensive toys.
Sylvia was incredibly strong and fought with a wild, desperate ferocity to regain control of the weapon.
Elena managed to grab Sylvia's wrist and brutally smashed it against the solid wooden leg of the crib.
Sylvia screamed in frustration and dropped the bloody knife onto the thick carpet.
Elena scrambled to her feet and delivered a powerful kick to Sylvia's stomach, winding the wicked woman completely.
She quickly grabbed Sylvia by the collar and shoved her violently into the nursery's heavy walk-in closet.
Elena slammed the thick wooden door shut and locked the heavy brass deadbolt from the outside.
Sylvia immediately began pounding furiously on the door, screaming horrific threats that echoed through the room.
Elena ignored the deafening noise and ripped a piece of fabric from her shirt to tightly bandage her bleeding shoulder.
She rushed back to the master suite, where Victor was still lying helplessly paralyzed on the bed.
"Marcus caught the baby, they are both safe outside," Elena whispered to Victor, hoping the good news would comfort him.
She found a heavy wooden chair and used all her remaining strength to drag Victor's limp body onto the seat.
Elena pushed the chair slowly into the main hallway, determined to find a way down the stairs.
Suddenly, the heavy front doors of the mansion burst completely open on the ground floor below them.
