Chapter 4 - The Coffee Shop Ambush

The horrifying realization hit Emma like a physical blow to the chest.

Maddox was the direct reason her humanitarian convoy had been delayed at the border.

He had orchestrated the blockade just to steal the lifesaving medicine for the black market.

She immediately sent an encrypted text message to Elias Ward, demanding an urgent meeting.

They agreed to meet at an empty, twenty-four-hour diner located on the industrial edge of the city.

Elias arrived looking exhausted, sliding into the worn vinyl booth directly across from her.

Emma slid the flash drive across the sticky table and explained the horrific truth about the stolen aid.

Elias closed his eyes, letting out a long, shuddering breath.

"This confirms exactly what my older sister, Rebecca, suspected," Elias whispered softly.

"Rebecca went missing three months ago while trying to track these exact shipping containers overseas."

Emma realized this nine-hundred-million-dollar deal was just a desperate trap for Elias to find his missing sister.

Before she could offer her help, the diner's front windows violently shattered inward.

A hail of suppressed gunfire tore through the diner, shredding the vinyl booths and shattering coffee mugs.

Emma tackled Elias to the floor, pulling him safely behind the thick steel counter.

Three men dressed in full tactical gear stepped through the broken glass, aiming red laser sights directly at them.
