Chapter 9 - The Mansion Ablaze
The entire medical wing froze in absolute shock as Grant held the billionaire hostage.
"Tell your men to drop their weapons right now, or I will paint this sterile floor with your brains," Grant commanded.
Dr. Vale raised his hands slowly, completely stunned by the sudden, violent betrayal.
"Lower your weapons," the doctor ordered his security team in a highly strained voice.
Julian immediately took advantage of the confusion to violently kick his interrogator backward into a glass cabinet.
Julian grabbed the dropped keys and quickly unlocked his heavy steel handcuffs.
Rachel sprinted across the room and smashed the emergency release button for the observation room.
Maddie ran crying into her mother's waiting arms, burying her small face in Rachel's shoulder.
"We have to go right now, the entire security network is about to trigger a lockdown," Julian warned urgently.
One of the loyal guards suddenly pulled a hidden sidearm and fired a wild shot at Grant.
The bullet grazed Grant's shoulder, causing him to stagger backward in extreme pain.
Absolute chaos erupted as a brutal, deafening firefight broke out in the underground clinic.
Julian grabbed an assault rifle from a fallen guard and provided heavy cover fire for Rachel.
"Get Maddie up the stairs and do not look back," Grant shouted over the deafening noise.
Rachel carried her heavy daughter up the concrete stairwell, her lungs burning with intense exhaustion.
She could hear Grant completely holding the line behind them, fighting fiercely to buy them precious time.
Suddenly, Dr. Vale desperately triggered the mansion's absolute final fail-safe protocol from a wall panel.
A massive series of incendiary charges detonated throughout the upper floors, setting the estate on fire to destroy all the evidence.

Julian pushed Rachel violently out of the main entrance just as the heavy steel blast doors began to slam shut.
Rachel screamed Grant's name wildly as the heavy metal doors locked completely, trapping him inside the burning medical wing.
