Chapter 5 - The Wedding Night

The phone slipped from Norah's trembling fingers.
Dominic caught the device before it hit the floor.
His dark eyes scanned the terrifying image on the cracked screen.
"He has Mia," Norah choked out, tears finally breaking through her professional armor.
Dominic's face turned into a mask of pure, unadulterated murder.
"He is a dead man," Dominic vowed softly.
He pulled Norah against his chest, wrapping his strong arms around her shaking frame.
"We will get her back, but we must stick to the plan first," he ordered gently.
A corrupt federal judge arrived at the compound twenty minutes later.
Norah wore a simple white silk dress provided by the estate's head housekeeper.
They stood in the dim light of the study, surrounded by heavily armed guards.
The judge quickly read through the legal vows.
Dominic slid the cold, heavy diamond onto Norah's shaking finger.
"I do," Dominic said, his voice echoing with absolute certainty.
"I do," Norah whispered back, staring up into his dark earth eyes.
Dominic leaned in and kissed her.
It was not a staged, theatrical kiss.
It was deep, possessive, and burned away every rational thought in her mind.
The judge stamped the paperwork and quickly left the dangerous estate.
Dominic immediately walked to his weapons cabinet and pulled out a tactical vest.
"I have traced the photo's origin to an abandoned shipyard on the South Side," he announced.
"I am coming with you," Norah demanded.
Dominic looked at her and saw the fierce, unyielding determination in her eyes.
He handed her a small silver pistol.
"Do not leave my side," he instructed.
They arrived at the rusted shipyard just after midnight.
Dominic kicked down the door of the targeted warehouse.
But there was absolutely no one inside.

Sitting in the center of the empty room was a single wooden chair.
Taped to the chair was a digital bomb timer, counting down from five seconds.
