Chapter 7 - The Rescue Mission

Daniel’s face drained of all color as the terrifying threat echoed through the speaker.
His younger sister Mia was away at a private boarding school, supposedly safe from the mafia life.
Katherine and my father had clearly tracked her down to use her as the ultimate leverage.
Daniel grabbed his assault rifle with white-knuckled fury, completely ready to walk into a suicide mission.
I stepped forcefully in front of him and placed both hands firmly on his chest.
I told him absolutely that he was not going to face an entire army alone.
We quickly geared up with heavy tactical vests, extra ammunition, and silenced sidearms.
We drove a stolen civilian car through the dark, pouring rain toward the abandoned shipping docks.
The massive warehouse district was heavily guarded by dozens of my father's armed mercenaries.
We slipped silently through a rusted chain-link fence, using the heavy rain as our cover.
I used my intimate knowledge of Marchetti security protocols to perfectly time our movements between guard patrols.
We infiltrated the dark warehouse through a shattered skylight on the fragile metal roof.
Looking down, we saw Mia tied to a wooden chair in the center of the massive room, crying softly.
Four heavily armed guards were smoking and joking casually near her holding area.
Daniel and I communicated entirely through silent, tactical hand signals.
On his strict count of three, we dropped down simultaneously from the steel rafters.
We neutralized all four guards in less than five seconds using our silenced weapons.
Daniel rushed forward frantically and cut the heavy ropes binding his terrified sister.
Mia sobbed and buried her face directly into her older brother’s tactical vest.
I kept my weapon raised, carefully securing the perimeter while they shared their emotional moment.
I turned toward the dark exit doors to lead them safely out into the night.
The harsh overhead warehouse lights suddenly snapped on, blinding us completely.

Standing in the doorway with a loaded shotgun was Silas, looking perfectly healthy and entirely alive.
He smiled wickedly and thanked Daniel for bringing the last remaining Marchetti directly to him.
