Chapter 2 - The Forged Signature
Naomi stared at the bright screen of Elijah’s phone in absolute disbelief.
The document displayed was a formal medical requisition form for Sherman BioTech.
It clearly showed her name, her medical license number, and her digital signature authorizing the release of the neurotoxin.
"I have never seen that document in my entire life," Naomi stated, keeping her voice completely steady.
"You framed me for financial fraud six months ago, and now you are falling for the exact same trick."
Elijah shook his head, his jaw clenching as anger replaced his previous fear.
"This came directly from my chief of security," Elijah snapped, stepping closer to her.
"Why would you bring this poison anywhere near my son?"
Cassandra immediately burst into fake, sobbing tears and wrapped her arms around Elijah.
"I told you she was dangerous, Elijah!" Cassandra cried against his shoulder.
"She wants to kill Toby so she can hurt you for divorcing her!"
Naomi stood her ground, refusing to let them intimidate her in her own emergency room.
"Toby told me that he drank Mommy’s medicine," Naomi said, pointing directly at the bottle in Elijah’s hand.
"If you truly want to save your son, you will let me run that liquid through the mass spectrometer."
Elijah looked at the bottle, a flicker of hesitation crossing his features.
Suddenly, the heavy doors of the pediatric unit swung wide open.
Doctor Harrison, the hospital’s medical director, marched into the room flanked by three men in expensive corporate suits.
"Doctor Wheeler, you are relieved of your duties effective immediately," the director announced loudly.
Naomi turned around, her heart pounding fiercely against her ribs.
"You cannot suspend me while I have a critical patient under my care," Naomi argued.
The corporate lawyers stepped forward, handing the director a thick legal folder.
"Sherman BioTech has filed an emergency injunction against you for stealing corporate property," the director explained nervously.
"Hospital security is here to escort you off the premises, and all lab results regarding this case are to be confiscated and destroyed to protect the hospital from liability."
Naomi realized they were trying to bury the evidence before the police could get involved.

Two large security guards stepped into the room and grabbed Naomi by her arms.
"Take her badge and erase her computer access," Cassandra ordered the guards with a vicious, triumphant smirk.
