Chapter 4 - The Tunnels

I dropped to the floor as a second bullet tore through the wall.
The sniper was positioned somewhere in the tree line outside the estate.
The lockdown shutters had failed on the second floor.
I crawled out of the bedroom and ran toward the basement stairs.
The panic room was the only safe place left.
I found Grace and the girls huddled inside the reinforced steel bunker.
They were terrified, but they were unhurt.
I locked the heavy vault door behind me and engaged the manual bolts.
I plugged the silver flash drive into the panic room's computer terminal.
My hands trembled as I clicked on the only video file.
It was security footage from the day Isabelle died.
The video didn't show her getting shot in the street.
It showed her sitting in this very panic room, holding a burner phone.
The audio was perfectly clear.
She was speaking to a man named Silas, the leader of a rival syndicate.
She told him my security codes and asked for a million dollars in exchange.
My entire world shattered in a matter of seconds.
The mother of my children had sold me out.
I turned to look at the girls, my heart breaking for their memory of her.
Grace was staring at the computer screen with wide eyes.
She whispered that she recognized the man's voice on the recording.
She said it was the exact same voice she heard upstairs before I arrived.

Silas wasn't just a rival boss.
He was the man currently hunting us inside my own home.
